Hexagram 50 - Seeking Sustenance From The Cauldron

Hexagram 50 is directly related to the fact that you are dependent on other people’s knowledge. This i Ching symbol shows that you should trust your instincts, your knowledge and wisdom more.

Hexagram 50 does not bring a negative message to your life, it just shows you the path you should follow. You must follow the path that is within you, that you think is best for you, and not what others think is best for you.

For those of you who have no idea what a cauldron is, it’s basically a large metal pot that is used to cook over a fire. Throughout ancient history, humans have used cauldrons for generations to cook stews and meals that would feed multiple people at once. Oddly though, cauldrons share a connection with witches because they happen to use them for their potions and rituals.

Hexagram 50 from the I Ching stirs your imagination by guiding you about sustenance and survival using the example of a cauldron.

Hexagram 50 Message

A cauldron is much more than just a cooking utensil or some witch’s potion mixer. One can choose to cook for himself and go about his life with no thought. But, he chooses to cook in a cauldron and distribute nourishment amongst those he cares for. Empathy and the ability to share, especially when running low on resources brings one’s kindness and generosity to light. Someone willing to share a necessity undoubtedly receives prosperity in return.

For some, a cauldron can be a representation of a heart full of hope. Like the steam of boiling stew, hope can radiate into one’s surroundings and revive hearts that may be suffering quietly. There’s no better nourishment for a beaten heart than plain and simple hope.

Hexagram 50 Message For Love & Relationships:

Love is a matter of giving while lust only desires to receive. Misinterpreting lust for love can be costly on both an emotional and spiritual level. There’s some gray area between the two emotions but it’s unlikely that you won’t know what you’re feeling towards a person.

Giving with the intent to receive is also a red flag; love is a selfless emotion. Like the person who cooks in a cauldron to share joy and nourishment with others, falling in love will similarly make you want to bring a smile to someone’s face even when you get nothing out of it.

Messages From The Lines Of Hexagram 50

Hexagram 50 Symbol

Line 1:

Though it might sound odd to link batteries with humans, there are always instances where one’s mental or emotional batteries can deplete, resulting in loss of clarity and bad decision-making. When such depletion occurs, it’s common to think that rest would be the best option for rejuvenation. However, spending time around nourishing people might refuel you much better as a hungry soul seeks nourishment rather than relaxation.

Line 2:

Over-stirring stew in a cauldron can lead to spillage. This means there’s no need to overdo things when you have the right plan in place and the resources to go along with it. Not all good things can be made “better” if you put extra effort into them.

If you’ve been doing something for very long, you know just how much effort is needed to get the results you desire. Experimentation is okay as long as it’s in small changes and increments but going overboard can become a recipe for disaster.

Line 3:

Whatever ingredients are put into a cauldron, the same flavor comes through in the finished product. It’s difficult to mask the taste of a particular ingredient.

In practical life, honesty is the best virtue. Everyone can mess up once in a while but a righteous man is he who owns up to his faults. However, honesty is easier said than done. When serious trouble is upon you, you would certainly be hesitant about being honest. In such cases, instead of weighing the pros and cons of lying, speak the truth and receive your punishment as bigger trouble will strike you if the truth unveils later on.

Line 4:

It’s easy to ignore a few important ingredients till you actually eat the substandard meal. A cauldron enrichens the raw ingredients you put into it and turns them into a meal that nourishes.

In life, there are always angles, aspects, and elements you might ignore till the end is upon you. Then, regret kicks in to make things even worse. It’s not necessarily balance that you need to strive for but rather catering to the aspects of life you wish to have experienced in the long run.

Line 5:

Sometimes sustenance is difficult to acquire. If financial stability isn’t a strong point for you, there will come times when prosperity might go down and you won’t be able to get your hands on even the most basic of resources. When there’s nothing holding you up, faith is the only tool you’re constantly equipped with. Some faith combined with genuine effort and direction will at least get you through the tough phase in one piece.

Line 6:

Nourishment and rejuvenation is impossible if one isn’t truly willing at the heart. It’s not exactly about change but rather having the will to step into a realm that could potentially heal deep inside. Making up your mind usually isn’t enough of a stimulus for growth; unless you truly want to nourish your soul, only a miracle can bring change to your circumstances.
